Job Tasks and Responsibilities: –

Makes sure the coding follows the rules and guidelines set by DHA and DHIC.

– Tells doctors about mistakes or missed details in their coding.

– Regularly updates to the newest coding versions and guidelines for DHA and DHIC coding.

Looks at doctors’ notes to make sure they are using the right codes for Evaluation and Management (E&M) levels.

– Teaching and helping other coders and Medical Records Technicians with coding, and updating them on new coding rules and regulations when needed.

– Makes sure to choose the right main diagnosis, any important secondary diagnoses, procedures, and other services needed for Preauthorization Approval.

Makes sure medical bills are sent to insurance companies on time by getting referrals and approvals first.

Checking patients’ bills to make sure they are correct. Checking on unpaid bills within the usual time period for billing.

Things you need and abilities needed.

Certified coder from AAPC or AHIMA.

Skilled in using ICD 10 and CPT 4 coding rules.

Good understanding of medical coding for diseases.

Good phone and speaking skills, plus the ability to listen carefully.

The ability to teach health workers how to improve their clinical notes.

Basic computer skills

Can do many things at once, decide what is most important, and use time well.
