Job Title: Safety Officer Reports to Head of Safety

Job Purpose: Why the job exists or what it is meant to do.
The Safety Officer helps the Head of Safety create and keep high safety standards. To follow the SMS Manual and all established procedures and GCAA rules to make sure we have a good Safety Management System.
Job Responsibilities – Financial Tasks: Understand the department’s budget needs and manage resources well to meet the budget goals.
2- Main Steps to Follow:
– Initial Checks of Incidents/Accidents
– Safety Monitoring Management
– Surprise Checkups
– Check DSR reports and follow up with the relevant agencies.
– Plan, make, and run safety workshops.
– Think of ideas, make, design, and share safety posters.
– Hold meetings to discuss safety and improve our safety practices.
– Helping to keep track of airport safety risks and performance goals.
– Check all visual aids and surface conditions for safety.
• Check all work on the airfield every day to make sure it is safe.
• Help the Head of Safety by doing regular safety tasks at the airport as described in ICAO Doc 9859 and GCAA CARs.
– Help with putting the Safety Management System Manual into practice.
• To make sure that all airport operators follow the safety rules and regulations.
– Holding meetings for the Apron Ground Safety Committee
– Helps the Head of Safety with the Safety Action Group, Local Runway Safety Team, and Safety Review Board.
– Helps the Head of Safety with all parts of the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS), including:
Writes and updates reports and keeps records on the right forms or computer files.
Records the minutes of all airport committee meetings and prepares typed versions for the Head of Safety to approve.
Plans for safety meetings, including sending out invites and topics to discuss.
Keeping a record of all meeting notes.
It keeps a record of all the follow-up tasks that need to be done and the due dates for completing them.
Gathers different types of information related to airside safety operations, uses basic statistical analysis with tools like MS Excel or Access, and makes predictions about future trends.
Helps manage the flight safety feedback program.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Qualifications:
1- Schooling and Degrees
• Completed graduation and can speak and write in English very well.
• Very good at speaking and writing in English.
• Having previous experience at an airport is a plus.
2- Job Skills and Education
The person in this job should understand how to manage safety and know about best practices, including some or all of these points:
– Knowing the ICAO and GCAA rules is important, and understanding GCAA CARs will be helpful.
– Safety in ground handling, ACI, and IATA
• Airport and Terminal Safety and Operations
• Building and contractor safety management

Understanding different areas of engineering or science, like building maintenance and construction.
Experience
Needed Experience:
The candidate should have at least 2 years of experience working at an airport. They need to know about compliance checks, job health, fire safety, safety management, airfield safety, and workplace safety or similar areas. The person in this job needs to be very good at English and have strong leadership and communication skills. Must be able to motivate themselves and work well even when there is a lot of stress.
• SMS Course or a similar qualification
– Demonstrated experience in the aviation field.
– Good understanding of aviation laws and ICAO guidelines, as well as safety rules.
– Demonstrated experience with safety
• Understanding how accidents happen and how to stop them.
– Safety margins and people factors
– Ways to handle risks
Other Requirements – Being responsible for safety.
All staff have safety responsibilities and must report to their supervisors and department head.
– To follow the safety rules and steps in the Aerodrome Operations Manual and Safety Management System, as well as any other instructions or notices from Ras Al Khaimah International.
Airport
• To follow the safety rules explained in their training.
– To inform their Head of Department and the Airport Duty Officer team about any safety issues or system problems and to point out and report any situations that could be a risk to safety using one of the following methods.
• Talk directly to the Safety Department or your supervisor.
• Turning in a report about an accident or incident.
– Help with safety checks and investigations when they happen.
