Jobs and Duties
As a Senior Field Engineer, you will be part of the Installation team at our office in the UAE. You will work closely with our headquarters in the Netherlands to provide important solutions for our projects and organization. The Field Engineer works with the E&E Engineering team, Project Management, and Operations to make sure that the installation tasks can be done safely and effectively using the installation boats. In this job, the Field Engineer makes sure to consult with the Offshore Construction Manager and other experts (like those in Welding, NDT, Coating, Surveying, and Diving) from the beginning of the planning and engineering on land until the installation is finished.
Your tasks
In short, your duties included, but were not limited to:
Check and provide guidance on the stress and strain setup for each section of the pipeline during installation.
Do simple engineering calculations or ask the engineering department for help with them, following Van Oord’s engineering rules.
Check and guide the pipe count, and organize the process of loading pipes onto ships with the help of logistics and pipe suppliers.
Check the engineering and work plans for Task Plans or Lifting Plans.
Make sure the most recent project documents are available on board.
Ideal Candidate Profile
A university degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Marine Engineering.
You need at least 3 years of experience installing offshore pipelines. This includes putting in pipeline pieces and connecting them using anchored barges.
*Well-acquainted with daily operations of offshore vessels in the Oil and Gas industry, including logistics. *
I have a good understanding of getting ships ready and finished with their work, managing subcontractors, and running meetings.
*Demonstrated experience with pipeline shore pull (open cut, horizontal directional drilling).
*Experience with installing Single Point Mooring buoys is confirmed. *
*It’s better if you have experience with installing cables and umbilicals. *
