The Facilities Manager takes care of many tasks related to keeping the resort’s buildings and equipment in good shape. Here’s a simple summary of the job:
Job Details
Education: Learning and gaining knowledge.
– A bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Hospitality Management, or a similar subject (preferred).

Training/Experience:
• Hands-on experience in managing facilities, especially in hotels or similar places.
– Good understanding of how building systems work, how to keep them maintained, and the rules that need to be followed.
– Great at leading, talking with others, and keeping things organized.
– Can handle many tasks at once and work well even when stressful.
– Good at using computer programs for managing maintenance tasks and other important software.
• Good leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and encourage teams.
– Great at talking to people, getting along with others, and helping customers.
• Good at paying attention to details and well-organized, with strong skills in solving problems.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed in the hospitality field.

Main Duties:

Maintenance Management: Keeping things in good working order.
– Create and put into action a full maintenance plan for the resort’s buildings and areas, including guest rooms, public areas, staff areas, and outside spaces.
• Help organize regular upkeep jobs like heating and cooling systems, plumbing, electrical work, and fixing the building.
– Plan and manage regular maintenance tasks to reduce equipment downtime and keep everything working well.

Vendor Management: Working with and organizing suppliers or companies that provide goods and services.
– Find and work with outside vendors, contractors, and service providers for maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
– Talk about contracts, look over proposals, and find affordable solutions while keeping quality high.
Keep an eye on how well vendors are doing and make sure they follow agreements and safety rules.

Safety and Rules:
Make and follow safety rules and procedures to keep guests, employees, and visitors safe.
• Regularly check and review to find possible dangers, rule-breaking, and safety issues.
Make sure to follow building rules, fire safety laws, health guidelines, and other important regulations.

Managing a budget:
– Create and manage the budget for the facilities. This includes predicting costs, keeping track of spending, and finding ways to save money.
• Keep track of how much energy is used and put in place ways to save energy to lower expenses.
– Create financial reports and give regular updates on how the budget is doing to management.

Fixing Up and Big Building Projects:
– Organize and manage renovation projects, improvements, and upgrades to make the hotel better for guests.
• Work with architects, engineers, contractors, and other important people to make sure projects finish on time and do not go over budget.
Create plans for ongoing maintenance and future spending to help with long-term planning.

Getting Ready for Emergencies:
– Create and keep updated plans and steps to respond to emergencies, like fires, natural disasters, and security issues.
– Hold practice drills and training to make sure staff are prepared and follow emergency rules.
• Be the main person to talk to during emergencies and work with local authorities and emergency services when necessary.
