Job Details
Ask customers if they are happy with their food and fix any issues if there are any.
Get money from customers.
Carefully write down food orders on order slips, remember the orders, or type them into computers so the kitchen staff can see them.
Bring food or drinks to customers and/or serve special dishes at tables when needed.
Show the menus to the customer and help with any questions about the food. Suggest items if they ask for recommendations.
Wipe down the tables or counters after guests are done eating.
Get the eating areas ready for the next group of workers or for big gatherings.
Tell customers about the special deals for today.
Describe how different menu items are made, including what ingredients are used and how they are cooked.
Set up tables for meals by putting out things like tablecloths, forks and knives, and glasses.
Take the dishes and glasses off the tables or counters and bring them to the kitchen to be washed.
Help the host or hostess by answering phone calls for reservations or take-out orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
Make food like salads, snacks, and cold dishes. Serve desserts in portions and make coffee.
Show customers to their tables.
Check all plates and orders before serving.
Tell the customer about the restaurant’s popular dishes and suggest some of them.
Give guests information about nearby places and help them find their way.
